The second Chakra is the Sacral which is derived from the emotions and directed towards sensuality, creativity and the principles of pleasure. It’s energy is a flow and flexibility attained from the element of water. It is located about 3 inches below the belly button and in the center of your lower abdomen travelling towards your back. The specific anatomical location is the lumbar vertebrae. This may at times be expanded to the the testicles of men or ovaries of women and is associated with the lymphatic system.
The second chakra is referred to as:

- Svadhisthana
- Adhishthan
- Shaddala

- Orange and coral calcite

This Chakra is pivotal to our realm of emotions, feeling and sensations and will be very active when we feel love, have sexual desires or are active sexually. The driving force is to attain enjoyment of the auditory side of life centering on taste, touch and sight. An open Sacral Chakra will ensure that you ‘feel’ life and all it has to offer and is an important part of an individuals emotional and physical well-being.
As this Chakra is very flexible is allows our emotions and thoughts to seeks those of others allowing us to ‘relate’ on a deeper level.
When the Sacral Chakra is balanced on will feel nurtured, balanced and enabled to interact with others in harmonious exchanges.
When imbalanced it may manifest dependency or co-dependency with others, seeking arbitrary pleasures. One may feel ruled by their emotions or the complete opposite of not feeling at all and being out of touch with themselves and others. Overindulgence in sexual fantasies, fetishes and obsessiveness in physical pleasures may occur or again the complete opposite with lack of sexual desire, satisfaction or emotions. Often one will feel ‘stuck’ in the same mood.
The main techniques used to balance the second chakra are –
Meditation – Meditate of an orange lotus or orange crescent moon.
Healing foods – including melons, oranges, sweet fruits and coconuts. Cinnamon and water are also helpful
Essential Oils – yiang-yian, sandalwood, orange, rose and patchouli work best
Healing Stones
Yoga Poses – Upavistha Konasana, Baddha Konasana, Bound Angel or Open Angel Poses.
Water – Being on open water, immersing your feet will help balancing.
